Translators of medical or life science texts require specialist expertise because in worst-case scenarios, translation mistakes can have serious consequences. Apart from the medical nomenclature medical translators also need to be able to recognize abbreviations and to know the relevant medical regulations. And finally, in case of barely readable handwriting or acronyms it is up to the linguistic skills of the translator to make sense of the original text.
In the course of my long-term translation activity I acquired experience in translating various medical documents, including medical certificates as well as diagnoses and discharge reports, public relation documents of hospitals and nursing institutions, medical articles and essays, licenses to practice and medical credentials.
